Plea for Help

Poverty is being created by the entity tax funded to prevent it, attention and assistance is needed.
The approach taken by Columbia County Department of Social Services, 25 Railroad Avenue, Hudson NY 12534 (518) 828-9411 is creating the very dynamics the missions statements claims to prevent; the result is separation and extreme poverty that will last generations.
Poverty has become a multi million dollar business.  The dynamics are documented in an evaluation of select services report prepared by OCFS Delaware County, New York Commissioner William R. Moon in 2010.
I am one of the mothers/statistics laid out in the report.  For 9 years I fought futuilely in the courtroom of Judge Paul Czajka and lost my parental rights in 2005 for;
-       Not acknowledging a “severe mental illness’ 9 psych evals said I did not have
-       Failure to maintain contact during a no contact order
-       Failure to financially plan while in court daily for years and income garnished to collect ‘child support’
By June 2014 I had $75,000  ‘child support debt’ with a minimum payment of $125 and increased with interest by nearly $300 monthly.  It was not set up to be a payable debt. Because it was labeled as child support it was subject to collection actions which included 65%, garnishment of gross income, drivers license seizure,  passport retained, bank accounts emptied with fees, tax liens and  piles of slanderous documents sent to employers, clients and places I volunteered.
As a result of these actions I was driven into poverty, many dangerous conditions and live with PTSD that is more present that post.
Their father who did not fight for our children and signed them into county ‘care’ was charge $0.
June 30, 2014 an outside party paid the ‘child support debt’ to allow me to effectively pursue an un-sabotaged income and improve quality that declined via the process; not a penny of $73,000 ‘child support’ went to my children but instead to Columbia County Department of Social Services for “repayment of services rendered”.
Though the payment was finally credited I have been denied receipt and shortly after calls for Michelle Schmidt began from support collection in Albany, a name shed when divorced in 2003,.
The agencies set up to protect continue to strip me of civil rights on numerous levels that threaten my freedom, health, safety, the possibility of ever being permitted to be fully self sufficient let alone rebuild something worth leaving my children.
Please help draw attention to the draconian mess that affects many families.
Thank you,
Michelle Mayer
